There are different types of pillows available in the market.
Choosing the right pillow is vital; equally important as choosing a mattress. Most of us take the quality of our pillow for granted. While we are aware of the significance of a good mattress, we forget that choosing the right pillow is as important. Pillows impact our sleeping patterns and can cause problems like sore neck or stiffness, which in turn will affect the quality of life. There are different types of pillows available in the market. If you wish to buy an ideal pillow, then it is crucial to be aware of the basics beforehand.

There are a variety of pillows available in the market, such as memory foam pillows, feather pillows, down pillows, latex pillows, buckwheat pillows, contour pillows and water pillows. These pillows are usually of premium quality and provide adequate support to the neck and the spine. Pillows such as the buckwheat pillows are non-toxic and eco-friendly, while the latex pillows are anti-allergic and dust resistant. There are a variety of options available in the market depending on the need of the consumer.

Here are 10 reasons why you should replace your old pillow for a brand new one:

• Every pillow has its natural lifespan: Do you remember the last time you bought a pillow? If it has been a while, then you should get rid of your old pillow. Unlike mattresses, pillows do not last for 15-20 years. They have an average lifespan of two to three years, depending on their overall type and composition.

• It gives you an added support: Ideally, pillows are used to provide added support to your neck and head. If your pillow is too thick or too thin, then it can create severe issues related to your health. Memory foam pillows are mostly used to provide support for your neck and are recommended by experts as well.

• It makes your bed hygienic: You should make sure that your pillow is made of premium quality. It should support the free flow of air and keep dust mites away.

• Your pillow must be anti-allergic: Besides preventing the accumulation of dust mites, an ideal pillow should also have anti-allergic properties. Most memory foam pillows are anti-allergic and dust mite-resistant, thereby making them an ideal choice for pillows.

• It will improve your breathing: Without being infected with allergies or dust mites and with the right sleeping position, you would be able to breathe freely. This will result in a better sleeping pattern.

• It must be uniform: If you have been using your pillow for a while then chances are that it must have sunk in places or lost its shape. A disproportionate pillow might directly result in a sore neck and spine-related issues.

• It should cool your head: The brain temperature tends to rise during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Memory foam mattresses and pillows help in cooling the temperature because they are known to dissipate body heat.

• It should relieve pressure: Memory foam pillows provide added comfort to your head and neck by relieving the pressure and uniformly distributing the weight.

• An old pillow might give you acne: Your old pillow might become unhygienic with the accumulation of dead skin cells and dirt and can cause acne or harm your skin.

• You need an ideal pillow to get optimum sleep: Most importantly, your pillow must be comfortable and suitable for your body type, thereby enabling a restful sleep.

So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and replace your old pillow with a brand new memory foam pillow, it is a good investment.
